3.5/5. Place was busy when we went in the afternoon on a Thursday. We got the large combo (duck/pork/chicken) plate. Just on value alone, you cannot beat it. The meat portions were very generous and the plate was hefty. Now as far as flavor, pork was best out of the three, duck being the second, and chicken taking third place since it had the least amount of flavor. If you’re looking for something filling and a bang for your buck, this place hits the spot. Since it is take-out only, there’s a park right across the restaurant. Be warned as there are a LOT of pigeons who will invite themselves to your meal without asking. Note: CASH ONLY site!

A long wait for the food, especially on the weekend. But cant beat the price, roast pork and duck over rice for $9.00. Food was great, the portion was good, and there are size options from small $6 ~ large $9.50 choice of meat from pork, duck, and chicken over rice. The rice goes under, then sautéed cabbages, meat gets chopped and placed on top and the broth gets poured over so no extra sauces or seasonings required. Even thought it was busy and lines were never ending, the employee was very nice and quick. They do sell sodas on the side, just grab them from the fridge after you order. I would recommend this location if you have time to wait around, its good weather, and you want to experience the authentic New York Chinese takeout. But it can be a long wait, the end of the line for me was at the end of the block and time was Saturday 4pm. Personally I like the pork better than the duck. No Atmospheres. Walk in, order, grab your food and walk out. Very limited space inside, for maybe 4-5 people at most.

We tried 4 of the top rated spots in Chinatown to get char siu over rice. Here is our ranking: 1) New Kim Tuong 2) Wah Fung Number 1 3) Hay Hay Roasted 4) Tin Wong Very good roast pork on rice for an unbeatable price. Probably the best value meal in Manhattan. No cash, hole in the wall type of place, Wah Fung serves roast duck, chicken, pork and crispy pig over rice. The line may look long but it moves fast, and the entire establishment is operated by only 2 men inside which is extremely expensive. I ordered the large roast pork on rice for $8.5. As you can see in the photo, it’s a really generous portions where they definitely do not skimp on the meat. The roast pork itself has the perfect amount of sweetness. The texture is exactly as you would not expect for Cantonese roast pork - a satisfying hearty, meaty consistency. The roast pork sits on top of a bed of white rice and steamed cabbage. I was very pleasantly surprised by the rice - it was moist and flavourful due to the sauce that the chef poured over the rice and vegetables before adding the meat. CASH ONLY. This spot is all about no‑frills standard Cantonese roast meats. The menu is simple — roast pork, roast duck, or chicken over white rice with steamed napa cabbage — and both the small and large come packed to the brim. I got the roast pork and roast duck combo. The duck was the standout: tender, flavorful, and easily what I’d order on its own next time. The pork was average- prefer my roast pork on the fattier side, so it wasn’t as juicy or flavorful as other places nearby. I also skipped the sauce (personal preference), though the standard is sauce on top. What really impressed me was the efficiency. The two guys working were cutting, packing, and taking cash in a rhythm that kept the line moving, and they were meticulous about changing gloves every time they handled money. Small detail, big impact. It’s cash only, strictly takeout, and the shop is tiny — maybe four people can stand inside — so plan ahead, especially in bad weather. We did a cheap-eats food crawl through the historically rich streets of NYC’s Chinatown, and Wah Fung No. 1 Fast Food absolutely earned its name. This is a cash-only spot, and you should expect to wait at least 20 minutes in line, but the payoff is worth every second. The roast pork and duck are incredibly flavorful, tender, and satisfying. We asked for extra sauce, and that was the right decision. Do not skip that step. The value here is unmatched. You can get a small lunch plate for just $6, which comes with a generous portion of rice, steamed cabbage, and your choice of roast pork, duck, or chicken. We ordered the large plate with all three meats, shared it between the two of us, and still had leftovers for later that evening. One important note: if you order the roast duck, eat carefully. The duck is chopped into bite-sized pieces with the bone still inside, so be sure to eat slowly and stay aware. If you’re anywhere near Chinatown or doing a historic food crawl of NYC’s best cheap eats, Wah Fung should absolutely be on your list.
